Final post for 2016!

Hi Guys!
Wow, this year has been crazy! I hope you had as much fun as I did. Now, on with the post. So last thursday we had a year 6,7 & 8 barn dance. I had so much fun dancing around (I did slip over once though). Here is a photo of Grace & I with our older siblings. My brother, Asher and Graces sister, Sophie.

My Novel Study

In the last few weeks Rimu has been creating Novel Studies. I chose the book ¨The Clockwork Three¨. I think that I could improve on finishing my work on time not a day late.
I loved reading this book and I hope you enjoy my Novel Study.

Prototech

From the start of Week one, Term four, Rimu class started doing Prototech almost everyday. Prototech is a website where you take a basic facts test, you can choose what stage you are tested on. Here is a link to Prototech have a go for yourself! We also made Graphs and put our scores on it every week. This is helpful because math is EVERYWHERE! We practise so that we can be better at maths.

I was doing stage 5 Prototech. I mostly learnt how to turn numbers into 100 (Ex: 14+?=100). This is helpful when I need to figure out money for shopping. I haven't progressed very much but I hope to progress much more in the next few weeks. Here is my graph:

I heard the sound of the waves, I felt the wind on my face, and as the smoke cleared I saw the raging river. Suddenly a boat popped up and I climbed in and rowed across the icy lake. When I reached the island in the middle off the lake I was exhausted and shivering but I knew the Owl King was not going to show me mercy so I walked in.

¨Your Highness, I have brought you the Akaroa Diamond, now please let Amber go!¨ I said bowing at his clawed feet. I heard the clink of a key in a lock and Amber was running toward me!

100WC

Today the 100WC prompt was the sentence: The Material felt like. I really enjoyed writing this one because it adds more mystery. See if you can spot the prompt in my story and comment the sentence I use it in!

Lilly no, you don't have to do this! I heard Amber's words ringing in my ears. I took a deep breath and opened the lock on the Glass velvet lined case. I had been given this mission by the Owl King, Get the Akaroa diamond and bring it back to me and I´ll let them go The Owl King had told me. I felt the Velvet, the material felt like silk beneath my fingers covering them in dust. Why did I have to do this? I asked myself. I quickly changed the diamond for a fake one and jumped out the window with the diamond feeling really ashamed.

Anne Frank, How Wonderful.

Last week we finished our Novel Study, one of the exersises we had to do was find a quote from our book that we were reading. I was reading Anne Frank and I found this quote from it:

1st Place!

Last week we finished our Digi Awards! Prudence, Laura, Violet and I teamed up and made a Minecraft video in the Digital Sandpit category. In this category we had to make a video of a game or do Coding,Create a game and more! The theme this year was ¨Be the change¨. We each had a little bit each in the video. My bit was ¨Save the retired racehorses".

Our group got to go to the prize giving .
When they said 3rd we were all so nervous then they said 2nd still not us... ¨1st place goes to... Be the change from Yaldhurst Model School!¨. We all walked up and got our prizes! We each got a Google Cardboard!

I learnt how to screen record and how to work as a group well. Here is our video and some photos of the night:

Rights of retired racehorses and what do you think happens to them?

The past few weeks we have been learning about persuasive speeches and how to write persuasively. 

Last week we presented our speeches, my speech was about the rights of retired racehorses. I think I did really well. I spoke clearly and I made my voice sound interesting. I think I should work on: 

moving around, not dropping my cards and speaking slower . 

I really enjoy writing speeches so the whole process was fun. I do think think that the research was hard to read as it is really sad to read about.

Hogwarts life, Year 1: Chapter 2

Hey Guys! I know I said that I would post some part of this story every week but I just couldn't wait so here is Chapter 2:

Hogwarts life, Year 1: Chapter 2

"Can I sit, everywhere else is full?" I said walking up to Fred and Gorges and some other guys compartment.

"Sure" George said

"Thanks!" I said relieved I didn't want to walk up to complete strangers and ask.

"You're the-" Fred started

"Girl from the platform" Gorge finished

"Yes I am, I am really sorry about that I don't usually bang into people" I said doing it the way Mum told me

"It's ok! Your name is Laura right?" George said

"Close its Lilly actually" I said giggling feeling more at home then I do at home

"Ok Lilly- my name is Fred his name is-" Fred said

"Gorge and that's Lee Jordan" Gorge finished

"Oh hi Lee! Do you guys want to try the lollies I found in diagon alley?" I said suddenly feeling like pranking someone since the last time I pranked my Aunt my Dad locked me in my room for 3 days.

"Sure" they all said

I handed them all one waiting for their reactions (these lollies you really itchy for a couple of minutes). After they swallowed them I watched them start to itch and it was hilarious!

"What are these? There genies!" Lee and George said

"There called bites, I had a little extra money so I brought them but Dad would never let me use them at home" I said.

"So you know a lot about us. Tell us about you" Fred said after the itching stopped

"Well you know my name is Lilly and that I am 11. I am an only child, I am muggle born and my parents own their own business and only gave birth to me so they would have someone to carry on the business" I said and then gasped after saying that.  

Suddenly I felt crestfallen after saying that, the reason Mum and Dad have birth to me was heartbreaking.

"Hey it's ok you don't have to talk about it" George said as I started to absent mindedly cry. I looked up at the three of them and laughed through my tears,

"Sorry I'm just a little sensitive about it" I said still smiling and wiped my tears on my sleeve.

“Woah” Fred and George said at the same time

“What?” I said confused

“Your eyes go a really deep blue after you cry” Lee said

“Oh yea it's pretty cool I guess” I said.

Lets Go Ride a bike!

 On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we had Cycle Safety! On Monday we had a training session and I won the game! We also had Constable Megan come in and teach us about the laws for biking on the road.
Then, on Tuesday we were learning about hand signals and right and left hand turns. After lunch we went on the road for the first time. I thought I did quite well for the first time although I did forget my stop signal. After lunch play we went for a bit of a bike around the neighbourhood with our instructors. On Wednesday we were on the road until 10:40am and then from 11am-12pm. I learnt that that I am generally aware and I ride well with gentle reminders and reassurance. I need to work on leading a group confidently.

Hogwarts life: Year 1, Chapter 1

Hey guys! I am writing a seven book short story and I am going to be posting a chapter every week. It is about if I went to hogwarts when Harry Potter and everyone who went at that time.

Hogwarts life, Year 1, Chapter 1:

It was just a normal morning in the Smith household. "Lol" this was not a normal morning at all, I was going to Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and wizardry! I had brought all the books about hogwarts that I could buy with the extra money Mum and Dad had exchanged!

"Lilly come down for breakfast, we need to get going soon" mum called down the hall

Oh shoot it was 10:30 the train levees at 12:00! (It was good I had packed a day before)

"Coming mum" I said running down the hall and sliding into the kitchen.

I was a thin girl with light blue eyes and long brown hair that went down to my hips. I loved fashion, animals, make up and books!

"See you at the end of the year" Dad said

"Ok Dad bye Mum, Dad" I said as I stepped out of the car, I knew that they had to go to a job interview as they own their own business.

Huh this says platform 9 ¾  but I decided against going up to the station manager and asking.  Then I heard a voice:

"It's the same every year packed with Muggles. Come on platform 9 ¾  this way" a red haired woman said

I decided to follow them and see if I can ask her about it.

I fast walked after them my straight brown hair flying in the late morning breeze. I had lost them dangit!

"OH CRAP, I am so sorry!", I said banging into two red headed boys!

"Hey! Watch where you're walking missy" one of them said

"I am so sorry! I just wasn't looking where I was walking and I was trying to find out how to get onto platform 9 ¾, Oh” I gasped as I saw the red haired women I was following

"Sorry let me introduce myself, My name is Lilly Rose Smith I said I am 11 years old and I need to ask for help on how to get on platform 9 ¾ " I said the way Mum told me to (she was big on manners).

Three of the red haired boys started laughing the two that I had just bumped into and one who looked about my age

"Fred, George, Ron really she is properly  muggle born and needs our help. My name is Molly Weasley, this is Percy she said Pointing to what looked like the oldest and the most stuck up one of them all. This is Fred and This is Gorge she said Pointing to each of the twins still silently laughing. This is Ron she said Pointing to the red haired boy who look like he was around my age. And this is Ginny she said Pointing to the short haired girl who looked about 10" she said all this well still looking slightly angry at Fred, George and Ron for laughing.

Suddenly a black haired boy with round glasses and a lightning bolt shaped scar came  walking up to us.

"Excuse me? Can y-you tell me how to get onto the platform?" He said

"Of course it's Ron and Lilly's first time as well. All you have to do is walk straight at the barrier between platform 9 and 10" she said. I know it sounds a little crazy but then Percy, Fred and George all went and so I trusted her.

I ran past the trees and I came across a wooden door! Having nowhere else to run I opened it and saw the exact same forest on the other side!
“Dangit!” I cursed but I looked down and I saw what had changed. The trees smiled down at me with their crooked branches, the fog lifted its arms as I walked into the center of the clearing, the bushes lowered there prickly swords. The fairies (!) lit up with happiness I just knew it was for me. 
They led me to the center, the darkness lifting. I opened the gleaming box and I gasped when I saw what was inside.

Term 3 time table!

Wow! It's Term 3 already! This is my new time table. It changes every week if we need it to. You can see my goals and what is happening every week/day at the top of the page. Wigram air force

In week 7 our class went to the wigram air force museum and we had to make a response to show what we learnt. Laura, Grace and I decided to make a music video, we found a song that we liked (treble hart) and we changed the words. It is me singing but we all enjoyed making it.

Framed!

I was sitting in my cold cell in Alcatraz. I was put here because I had killed 13 innocent people, but the truth is I was framed! I was simply caught at the scene of the crime, they took me in for a trial but I was so scared I could not talk and I landed here! 

I was in line at the lunch line and sat at a table and everyone else moved away from me. So I decided to come up with a plan. I am so skinny that those prison bars do not hold me anymore and I can slip through when ever I feel like it.

The Violin Door

I was walking along the yellow moth eaten path (I know weird right) as I came across something weird, and old airport! As I approached the airport I saw something odd, the door had a violin on it! I opened the door my curiosity taking over. I gasped! The airport was my airport back home in christchurch! But something was different. Then I realized it as an airplane swept the ground all of the doors had a violin on it! Suddenly a man walked up to me
“little girl”, he said
“hello!?”, I said confused
“come with me!”, he said
“I’m gonna go I have a plane to catch”,.

This Weeks Maths

This week in maths we were doing times tables! (YAY FUN- I never said) we had to work out of the red stage 5 book. We had to work out the answer for questions from A-P I never got to finish them but the ones I did do I got right (except for 2)! Now I understand adding times tables better.

“HELLO!!!”, 
“AMBER!”,
“ANYONE!!!”,
I was under a pile of rubble. Just moments before Amber and I were playing Lazer strike and suddenly they were evacuating us and the building fell. I was still wearing my Lazer strike gear so I could tell if I found anyone because the laser would find them. I was scared to move any stone because the rubble on top of me could fall! Then I remembered I charged my phone before we went to Lazer Strike. I pulled it out of my pocket and I saw it ringing it was Amber! 

“Amber where are you?”,
“I don’t know”, 
“wait you’re all ecoey!”, 
“so?”, 
“that means that you’re near me!”, 
“ok I’ll ring Dad”,
“good and I’ll ring Sam!”, 
“I love you Amber!”, .

I started ringing Sam (Sam was my boyfriend and my BFF) 
“Sam?”, 
“oh thank the stars you’re alright”, he said relieved
“yeah I think Amber’s right next to me I rang her and she was all ecoey”,
“she’s ringing our Dad”, 
“he’s on the phone to someone next to me so I guess it is Amber”, 
Suddenly my Lazer Strike gear started going red like I had been hit
“wait someone is next to me and I am going red”, 
“you mean you still have your lazer strike gear on”, 
“yea”, 
“look I have to save battery”, 
“ok its good to know your safe”, 
“I love you”, I said I was sad that we might never see each again 
“I love you to”,.

Suddenly someone’s hand broke through the rubble next to me!
“LILLY IS THAT YOU?”, Amber yelled 
“yes Amber!”, we spoke though a gap in the rubble not daring to move anymore rubble. 
“Amber your hand is bleeding!”, 
“yeh I know”, 
“wait”, I grabbed a sharp rock and cut a piece of my T-shirt off and wrapped her hand in it.
I grabbed her in a hug and she pushed the rocks and they fell on top of her! 
“AMBER!”, I screamed 
someone grabbed me and saw Ambers body and pulled it out from under the rubble and carried us both over to the side were Dad and Sam were waiting. Thats when it hit me like two rocks, I had lost Mum two years ago in a fire and now Amber. This was one bit worse than losing Mum I had seen it and it was my fault Amber was dead! 

I have been told countless times that it wasn’t my fault but it was. 
I made her make a hole in the rubble,
I gave her a hug, 
and I was pulling her towards me!

The Owl King

I leant over to my bedside table my back straining. I lit my candle and I sat back in bed and siyed I was so scared. Why was I awake? The night was still outside suddenly I screamed as the flame flickered and then went out. I heard nothing but then there was a swoosh of wings and a human sized owl came and grabbed my favorite necklace leaving a note in its place.

The Deep Lake

Silence, Silence and more silence I looked down at my orange pajama top and sighed. The rumble of thunder made me shiver. I heard Amber’s voice in my head: 
“Don’t do it Lilly you’ll drown”,
I took a deep breath and jumped into the ice cold lake and swam as fast as I could to reach the end where the Owl King was holding Amber captive. The rain water and the wind made it feel like I was in the sea but I kept on swimming as if my life depended on it (it kinda did). Amber was at the end I had to keep swimming.

My Time Table for Term 2!

This term our focus is being an Enthusiastic Learner. We are showing this by following our own time table. This is my term 2 timetable which I am working on following. This is important because how I learn to manage myself! What do you think? Any tips for me?

Every week we do a 100 word challenge we have to write 110 words max. I found this very hard since I have so many ideas and not enough  words I had to delete around 185 words. 

Stairway to the sky.

I was driving and I took a turn and I didn’t see a truck I crashed into him and the world went black. Then I was looking into a big window, I could see what they were doing with my body. I sat there watching where they were taking my body. The screen darkened and I was scared. The screen lit up again but this time a man was in it. I just knew he was the one who was going to decide if I can go to where ever I will go.

True or false?

Rimu class had to write true or false stories about our holidays. Can you guess is mine True or false? (comment if it is true or false).

On the first Sunday of school holidays Prudence and I had a sleepover in my grandparents caravan for two nights! When she arrived we made a taste test video to put on YouTube. It was sad because we didn't like most of the crap (Read: Sugary) food she brought but we ate it anyway ¨Lol!¨. Then we started making a video and we walked down to the park.

We had so many bloopers it was hilarious! When we were walking (Read: Giggling) back the caravan on the back of my grandparents truck started driving to our house and we tried to chase it but it was to fast and we came back puffed.

When the caravan was set up we got all our clothes and toiletry stuff. Then we set up the computers and played on minecraft. Then we had dinner (Read: burgers) and watched Into the woods! And then we went on the trampoline and I started singing a song and I yelled a bit of it and Prudence ran back to the caravan like nothing happened.
